Originally from Rives, it was also in the city of Isère that Jérémy Clément kicked his first balls before being spotted by the recruiters of Olympique Lyonnais during a tournament. He therefore joined the OL training center, the club with which he played his first Ligue 1 match (against Rennes, 3-0, in April 2004).

In 2006, he joined Paul Le Guen, his coach in Lyon, on the side of the Glasgow Rangers. Before heading for Paris Saint-Germain in 2007.
