“AS Saint-Etienne deplores the incidents that occurred on the sidelines of its match against Olympique de Marseille and which forced the Loire Prefecture to prohibit Marseille supporters from entering the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. The club condemns all forms of violence and reaffirms its attachment to the values of sport. The Prefecture of the Loire took the measures it considered necessary to allow the smooth running of the meeting but also to ensure the safety of the public. Such incidents cannot be fatal. All concerned must continue to work together in order to find suitable solutions which safeguard the interests of festive and popular football. “
