It’s been almost four months since the November 11 earthquake hit Teil and other surrounding Drôme-Ardèche communities. However, many victims still pay the consequences today. So, to support them financially, the Child Safeguarding Association 26 is organizing a big solidarity match which will pit former legendary players from AS Saint-Etienne (ASSE) and Olympique Lyonnais (OL) ), Friday March 20 at 7 p.m., at the Tropenas stadium in Montélimar. And she can count on the support of members of the XP2I reintegration association and the Agir pour autisme foundation.
Alain Silve, the president of these last two structures, explains the process: “We are all aware of the trauma that was experienced by the victims. But over time, interest tends to decrease, when all is not resolved. Our associations, as well as local authorities, have not forgotten. Thus, the town hall of Montélimar, like the department of Drôme, provided financial support for the implementation of the project.

Franck Bacquet, president of the Backup 26, says: “I asked for old glories from Saint-Etienne and Lyon. We are particularly aware of the sensitivity of Eric Carrière, a former French international footballer (N.D.L.R.: he went through OL in the early 2000s). ”
He continues: “We insisted that the match be fair enough, with teams of an equal level.” If, for the moment, the composition of the teams has not been revealed, the organizers are already advancing the names of Anthony Réveillère, sponsor of the project, and Sidney Govou, both having spent part of their career at OL.
All profits from the sale of tickets will therefore be donated to the earthquake victims.
And to raise the prize pool, the organizers also offer a “business pack” at a price of 150 euros, which allows structures to invite five people of their choice. Note that an opening match, which will pit young people from the Montilian Sports Union against the selection of the Football club Montélimar, the Backup 26 and the Teil, will be held at 5 p.m.
