AS Saint-Etienne : CDF, Mendy wants to beat ASSE and play the final | ASSE News

Edouard Mendy commented on the next Stade Rennais meeting against ASSE in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. The Rennes goalkeeper trusts his team to win against the Greens.

Stade Rennais: Edouard Mendy dreams of a Coupe de France final

After defeating Toulouse FC (2-0) last weekend, Stade Rennais have a meeting with AS Saint-Etienne in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. Indeed, the Rennes club will challenge ASSE in the cauldron this Thursday from 8:55 pm.

Present at press conference, Edouard Mendy spoke about this meeting. The goalkeeper is about to play his first semi-final of the Coupe de France and hopes to beat the Greens to qualify for the final. “It’s a Cup that makes you dream and hope to play a final, it’s really something beautiful”, he said in comments reported by West France.

Distrust of Stade Rennais

Holding the title, Stade Rennais wishes to keep its crown. No chance therefore to let slip this semi-final against ASSE. The Bretons are keen to win against a badly-endowed Stéphane team. It must be said that AS Saint-Etienne has been on a negative spiral for several weeks. Claude Puel’s men have conceded five defeats and a draw during the last six days of Ligue 1. A balance more or less worrying for the Greens.

However, Edouard Mendy remains suspicious. The Stade Rennais goalkeeper is wary of ASSE. He expects a tough match against AS Saint-Etienne. “It will be against an opponent that we have already faced, in a different context. But we should not multiply everything ”, did he declare. ASSE is therefore warned. The Rennes do not intend to let go of this semi-final, the match at Geoffroy-Guichard promises to be hectic.
