AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE: Coup de force, Puel appoints the new boss of the transfer window | ASSE News

At the end of February, Saint-Etienne separated from David Wantier, former director of the Greens’ recruitment unit.

Patron of the Stéphane recruitment cell since 2015, Xavier Wantier left his spleen lying around in the Forézien club, his recommendations were not always followed during the transfer window, and especially last winter when Saint-Etienne was finally totally inactive. Although appreciated by players, he officially left ASSE at the end of February. And while awaiting the possible arrival of a sports director, the Greens have decided to appoint Julien Cordonnier as head of the recruitment cell according to RMC. A choice made by management in close collaboration with the Greens’ coach, Claude Puel.

It has been almost two years since the former professional footballer from Châteauroux, Beauvais or Neuchâtel in Switzerland joined the ASSE recruitment cell, but now he is responsible for it. At the age of 39, he was also the sports director of US Orleans, which he helped install in Ligue 2. “It is now he who will be responsible for finding the players who can restore colors to the Greens in the coming months” indicates the radio. It remains to be seen whether Julien Cordonnier will be the main decision maker for the ASSE transfer window alongside Claude Puel or whether in the coming weeks Saint-Etienne will offer a sports director. This is not yet certain because as a reminder, Claude Puel has the status of general manager, which means that the transfer window is completely in his field of action.
