For several weeks, Ligue 1 clubs have entered the second half of the championship. A few months before the end of the season, it is possible to distinguish several groups of team(s) fighting for similar objectives, whether for maintenance, qualification in Europe or even the title. From PSG to ASSE via OM and OL, let’s see what the bookmakers think of the final standings of the French championship.
PSG in pole position with OM on their heels
If there is a team that deserves its group on its own, it is Paris. The capital club is comfortably installed in the leader’s seat, with more than ten points ahead of its first pursuer. Behind the Parisian ogre, it is OGC Nice which is dangerously close to Olympique de Marseille by placing itself in third position. An increase of one place compared to that of a month and a half ago.
ASSE, OL and LOSC pick up
While some heavyweights in the French championship have confirmed the expectations placed on them at the start of the season, this is not the case for Olympique Lyonnais, Lille and AS Saint-Etienne. The three clubs are a long way from where the bookmakers placed them last June. Les Gones were the favorites to come and tickle the Parisians for the conquest of the title, with odds of 10. The same was true for the defending champions, a step below (13.5 against 1). Regarding the Greens, the bookmakers were far from imagining a battle for maintenance and gave them the 10th odds (285 against 1).
