AS Saint-Etienne : Bergerac will welcome Saint-Etienne to Périgueux | ASSE News

The task always looks delicate for amateurs when it is necessary to receive teams from Ligue 1 within the framework of the Coupe de France. It is even more so in a context imposing health restrictions and a certain gauge tolerated in the stadiums. With this in mind, if Versailles, which was initially to receive Toulouse, will finally move for a completely different reason, Bergerac (N2), another small thumb in the competition, will also be forced to relocate to receive AS Saint-Étienne in the round of 16 of the French Cup.

After visiting the Stadium of Brive and Beaublanc in Limoges, the club and the municipalities have finally decided: the match will take place at the Francis-Rongiéras stadium in Périgueux. Indeed, despite the travel ban targeting Saint-Etienne supporters, the health constraints, which impose one seat out of two in the seated grandstand for social distancing, make it impossible to hold the match in Bergerac, the club explained in particular in a press release. After having eliminated Metz (L1) and Créteil (National 1) in its Gaston Simounet stadium, fans will therefore have to export themselves 50 km to the north to achieve a new feat.
