The latest weekly letter from CIES, the Football Observatory, highlights training clubs in 15 leagues*. AS Saint-Étienne is in a good position and once again demonstrates its training skills.
The Forez club has formed 24 players playing in one of the 15 leagues studied, 14 are currently playing at AS Saint-Étienne. In the field, Boca Juniors crushes the competition with 78 players from its academy, including 26 playing under its colors. The great rival River Plate cannot compete despite 60 trained players, 11 of whom still wear the colors of Banda Roja. The Colombian club Déportivo Cali completes this podium, demonstrating the ability of South American clubs to train players.
In France, it is the Rennais Stadium which is number 1 with 31 club-trained players playing in one of the divisions studied. The Rennes team is renowned and eight players trained at the club currently wear the colors of the Breton club. On a French scale, ASSE is fourth behind Rennes, Lyon and Paris.
Nevertheless, Sainté is first based on the players aligned with their training club. Boca Juniors is also dethroned by a Chilean formation, Santiago Wanderers which totals 27 players in its ranks, trained at the club! 48th club in terms of trained players, ASSE is in 24th place in terms of club-trained players playing with the team out of 286 teams!
