Two investors unite for the takeover of ASSE
Eight months after the sale of AS Saint-Étienne, Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer are still in business. All the offers made so far for the takeover of ASSE have not received a favorable response. Candidate for the resumption of Saint-Étienne, Olivier Markarian had in particular seen his offer rejected, because considered insufficient. Interested in the Greens, Serge Bueno could soon take action. The boss of Smart Good Things had stated his intention to buy the Forez club in mid-November. A check for €150 million in sight for Caïazzo and Romeyer?
According to the online media, the two men could at least offer 150 million euros for the takeover of AS Saint-Étienne. The source recalls that Olivier Markarian was willing to invest “between 40 and 50 M€ in cash in order to allow the club to settle the problem of the CAN during the winter transfer window and maintenance”. As for Serge Bueno, he had indicated that his proposal would be higher than the bank guarantee, i.e. 100 million euros. The investor pointed out that ASSE needed significant funding “to get out of the rut and settle in Ligue 1 in the long term”. It remains to be seen whether this ticket will turn the Caïazzo-Romeyer page. The two leaders are more than ever unpopular with the Saint-Etienne supporters.
