Deep in the bottom of Ligue 1 since the start of the season, Saint-Étienne and Brest have been on an upward slope since the beginning of November which suggests better days.

Like what, the truth of one day is not always that of the next day. After a catastrophic start to the season, Brest and Saint-Étienne were relegated at the end of October, and the two formations sank little by little in the crisis. Then a click. On the Brest side, the click took the form of a draw against Reims at the end of October. A draw that put an end to the downward spiral of the Brotons, and which improved thanks to the point taken from Pierre Mauroy the following week (1-1). Before the euphoria, and three consecutive successes in November against Monaco (2-0), in Lorient (1-2) and against Lens (4-0), the first three of the season which took Brest away from the red zone. Indeed, since the middle of October and the ninth day, Brest is the third best team in Ligue 1, behind Rennes and Paris.

A ranking to which the ASSE of Claude Puel points to seventh place. With two wins and two draws in the last four matches, the Stéphanois returned to one point from 17th place, after a failed start to the season. The clean sheet achieved on the lawn of Troyes (0-1) is the first of the season, and especially the first for more than six months, and the reception of OM at the end of last season.
