One might think that at this gloomy start to the season for AS Saint-Etienne, with no victory in nine Ligue 1 days and a last place in the standings, no Green would have caught the eye of foreign recruiters. We would be wrong. One of Claude Puel’s players has been on Marcelo Bielsa’s shelves for years and the former OM coach could get started on condition that the player in question raises his current level somewhat.
This player is Adil Aouchiche. According to the account of Delphlyx, an agency advising clubs and recruiters via statistics, the 19-year-old playmaker has only been in Loco’s sights since his years at PSG. The current Leeds manager is monitoring his progress and of course noted that since his arrival at Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2020, Aouchiche has encountered difficulties in winning in L1. Still a little light physically, he was taken out of the team by Claude Puel at half-time of the match in Marseille (1-3) during the 4th day and has been waxing the bench ever since. But if he were to resume his course of progress, the Peacocks would surely come to the news. Especially since a survey of their supporters shows that Aouchiche has the preference of the latter with 45.5% of the vote, ahead of Josip Brekalo (Wolfsburg / Torino, 27.3%) and Dwight McNeil (Burnley, 27.2 %).
