AS Saint-Etienne : OL. Lyon supporters banned from traveling for the derby | ASSE News

On October 3, Lyon supporters will be banned from traveling to the Geoffroy Guichard stadium, derby day between AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique Lyonnais.

The Prefecture of the Loire has just taken a decree to this effect, stipulating “that there is a strong rivalry between the groups of supporters from Saint-Etienne and Lyonnais” and that “serious disturbances to public order are noted on the occasion of matches between these two teams “.

Precedents of violent clashes

On February 29, 2020, on the eve of an OL / ASSE derby, violent clashes between supporters left several injured in the center of Lyon.

To support its decision, the Prefecture also recalls the violent outbursts that opposed the two clubs on February 5 and November 5, 2017.

The ban goes into effect on October 3 at 8 a.m. and runs until October 6, 6 a.m.

Access to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium and its surroundings are prohibited to Lyon supporters. The ban extends for traffic and parking in Saint-Étienne, Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, L’Étrat, La Tour-en-Jarez and Saint-Galmier.
