Seeing a decree from the Loire or Rhône prefecture fall, ten days before each derby between ASSE and OL, has become a sad habit for several seasons. The Loire prefecture has just issued yet another order on Thursday to ban any movement of Lyon supporters in the Chaudron, from 3 to 6 October. She specifies “that there is a strong rivalry between the groups of supporters from Saint-Etienne and Lyon”. Ah good ? According to her, “serious disturbances to public order have been observed in matches between these two teams.”

The Stéphanois have never set foot in Parc OL

There is no shortage of precedents to support such a decision, starting with the violent clashes between supporters of the two camps, in the city center of Lyon, on the eve of the derby in February 2020 at the Parc OL.
