While very little information filters through the sale of AS-Saint-Etienne, the specialized site Goal ! affirms that eight files would have been validated for the redemption of the club this Monday, July 19, 2021 by the cabinet KPMG responsible for finding a buyer.

“According to our information, KPMG had set Monday July 19 as the deadline for the various buyers to submit their files, in order to check their financial strength “, Explains journalist Laurent Heiss, who particularly follows the news from ASSE.

This fateful date would therefore have made it possible to validate the files of potential buyers. One of the names that have been mentioned in recent weeks, that ofOlivier Markarian, CEO of Markal, which is one of ASSE’s official partners, has reportedly failed to take this step.

One of the strongest records would be that of a players’ agent, himself a former French player, which would be associated with an Asian investment fund. But his identity has not been revealed.

The club went on sale in early April. Since then, a new executive director has been appointed, Jean-François Soucasse, former ASSE midfielder.

And the club just sold one of its most iconic players, the goalkeeper Jessy Moulin who spent 22 years at ASSE. He was number two behind historic goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier for a long time and has revealed himself this season at 35. It was bought by the Troyes club.
