AS Saint-Etienne : Sale, clues about the future buyer of Sainté | ASSE News

Until July 1, the date set by the president of the ASSE, Roland Romeyer, to have “news” on the sale of the Loire club, Progress delivers new clues to KPMG audit firm case.

Sale of ASSE: Two candidates stand out

The two owners of the ASSE have officially put the Loire club on sale since April 13, 2021. Roland romeyer and Bernard Caiazzo entrusted the sale file to KPMG. Auditing and consulting firms are responsible for selecting the strongest candidates for the takeover of AS Saint-Étienne. While waiting for the official short list of KPMG, the regional newspaper understands that “Two candidates would stand out, in order to buy the Saint-Etienne club”. According to information from the source, “A foreign candidate would like to join forces with local investors whose financial resources are too limited to embark on the adventure alone, but well established in the Loire region”.

Finally, the daily announces that “The takeover candidates deemed credible by KPMG should soon have access to accounting documents for the 2020-2021 fiscal year”. It should also be noted that ASSE has a meeting with the National Management Control Department (DNCG) on Tuesday, June 29, two days before the date set by the chairman of the Greens management board.

Failure with the Peak6 group in 2018

For the record, this is not the first time that Sainté has been put on sale. In mid-May 2018, Roland romeyer and Bernard Caiazzo had entered into exclusive negotiations with the Peak6 group, but the parties had failed to reach an agreement. Ten days after the announcement of the discussions with the American investors, the ASSE had put an end to the talks, on the pretext that the latter had not given sufficient financial guarantee to acquire the Saint-Etienne club.
