Maintenance now assured, AS Saint-Étienne and Claude Puel are already shaping the backbone of the 2021-2022 workforce. If the Greens have recently acquired the unfortunate reputation of separating early from their young talents from the training center, the French coach wants to change this situation. After throwing several of them into the high level swim this season, Claude Puel wants to continue counting on them for next season. ASSE thus continues to work on the youth overtime which has emerged this season.

Lucas Gourna-Douath to stay and extend at ASSE

After completing the Étienne Green and Saidou Sow, whose formalization is expected in the coming days, ASSE wishes to do the same with Lucas Gourna-Douath. A real revelation of the season for Saint-Étienne, the 17-year-old midfielder is one of Saint-Etienne’s biggest hopes. Its rating is only rising in the transfer market. With the transfer window approaching and the possibility of several clubs trying to attract him, the leaders of AS Saint-Étienne have decided to renew the contract of Lucas Gourna-Douath.

“Courted by several big European clubs, Lucas Gourna-Douath should stay in Saint-Étienne next season. The 17-year-old midfielder has one of the longest playing times of all 2003 in Europe (1253 minutes since the start of the season) ”, explained the journalist of RMC Sports, Loïc Tanzi.

Currently under contract until 2023, Lucas Gourna-Douath is valued at 12 million euros by Transfermarkt. Note that ASSE is also negotiating with Yvan Neyou, Stefán Bajic and Arnaud Nordin.
