AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE sale: Romeyer announces heavy for July 1st | ASSE News

In the coming weeks, the presidents of AS Saint-Etienne, including Roland Romeyer, will pass the torch by selling the Forez club.

It’s no longer a secret, but ASSE is on sale. While no buyer has yet been announced, whether from local candidates or foreign investors, the sale process continues to move forward in secret. Indeed, according to Roland Romeyer, things will change next summer. Eager to take a step back, with Bernard Caïazzo, the chairman of the board of ASSE will not, however, let go of his baby to anyone.

“Passing on the torch in good conditions”

“On July 1, there will be something new. It is not a matter of money, but of the sustainability of the club at a time when there were unprecedented things that plagued French football. It is a problem of succession. You have to insure when you are 75 and 67 years old. You have to know how to pass the baton. In addition, in an unprecedented moment, with the pandemic and Mediapro, we must ensure the future of the club because we love the club. We are trying to find the financial means to perpetuate the club. I want to retire one day or another and pass on the torch under good conditions. I want the Stéphanois to be proud of the results. This year, we lost 35 million euros in turnover. I don’t think we will achieve a balance, but we did a very good job. The following ? I will keep shares until I die. I will be there to advise eventually, because I want the club to achieve results as they should. Because AS Saint-Étienne is the European Cup and it should play between 4th and 6th places ”, detailed, on RMC, Romeyer, who hopes that ASSE will be able to find colors, green if possible, after the sale.
