AS Saint-Etienne : Sale of AS Saint-Étienne, an announced investor | ASSE News

The interest of an investor in ASSE is mentioned by Progress, this Monday. A meeting, announced by a well-known name of the Loire club, would be scheduled, this Wednesday, March 10, in Saint-Étienne.

ASSE: Roussey and Pauly back to buy Sainté?

An investor, who had tried unsuccessfully to take shares in ASSE in 2009, reportedly revived the idea of joining the capital of the Greens. According to information from the regional daily, it is Jacques Pauly. The latter’s henchman, Laurent Roussey, reportedly transmitted telephone messages to journalists, inviting them to an information meeting this Wednesday at a host in Saint-Etienne. The former AS Saint-Étienne player, then the club’s former coach, is announced at a press conference, with his mentor Jacques Pauly. The latter had tried unsuccessfully to take the ASSE back in hand in 2009, with a project dubbed “X3”. He had hinted that he had deposited 40% bank guarantees, equivalent to a significant amount of € 400 million, with Crédit Agricole de Saint-Étienne, in order to take over the club of the two presidents: Roland romeyer and Bernard Caiazzo. But this guarantee was nowhere to be found. Neither the banking system nor the courts had confirmed traces of the € 400 million.

AS Saint-Étienne threatened with relegation to Ligue 2

Recall that it was on July 30, 2018 that Jacques Pauly, together with his right-hand man Laurent Roussey (59), accused Crédit Agricole Loire Haute-Loire of having embezzled the 400 million euros deposited in the bank in 2009, in the form of bank guarantees and not of new money, to take back 40% of the shares of ASSE. Note also that Sainté finished in 17th place in the championship, truncated last season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. During the current exercise, the Greens are in great difficulty. They are 16th and threatened with relegation, 10 days from the end of Ligue 1. And the question of the sale of the Saint-Etienne club is still relevant.
