AS Saint-Etienne : 10 million euros in the boxes this winter | ASSE News

The transfer window summer 2020 has been synonymous with degreasingASSE. The exit door was indicated to several players weighing heavily on the payroll, such Loïs Diony and Yann M’Vila, who no longer fell within the plans of Claude Puel. But the winter transfer window could bring the A close to € 10m.S Saint-Etienne.

A new degreasing in the winter transfer window

TheASSE had two main objectives during the summer transfer window: to make room in his payroll by parting with undesirable high-paying players and to rejuvenate an aging workforce, as part of the coach’s sporting project Claude Puel. Thus, Loïs Diony left the Greens for Angers SCO, while Yann M’Vila found a base in Greece, at Olympiakos. A plan that worked without a hitch until Wesley Fofana left Leicester City. Sold for 35 million euros excluding bonuses, the young defender was one of the executives of Puel’s project, who was firmly opposed to a departure. TheASSE has nevertheless got his hands on a nice jackpot, part of which should serve to strengthen the team in the winter transfer window, but for that, it will be necessary to further degrease in a few weeks. Several unwanted people who have not found a way out this summer should therefore leave the club soon.

ASSE has 10 million euros sleeping

The first of these unwanted people at ASSE is obviously Stephane Ruffier. The 34-year-old goalkeeper refused to engage with Dijon FCO at the end of the last transfer window. Under contract until June 2021, the porter can negotiate with clubs as early as January for a free signature in the summer. But’AS Saint-Etienne could make some money by finding him a club this winter. This is also the best option for Ruffier, to whom a blank year would be detrimental and could accelerate the end of his career. Under contract until June 2022, left-back Miguel Trauco is also leaving and his value is estimated at 1.5 million euros. The same goes for his teammate Gabriel Silva, who has two and a half years of contract left. Finally, Ryad Boudebouz and Wahbi Kazri, both at the end of their contract in June 2022, should leave ASSE at the next transfer window. Boudebouz had touches in Qatar, but the transfer fell apart. The cumulative value of the two players is estimated at between 7 and 8 million euros. By getting rid of these five players, AS Saint-Etienne could bring about ten million euros into the coffers. What to see the second part of the season with hope.
