AS Saint-Etienne : The leader can blame himself – Dbrief and NOTES of the players (FCN 2-2 ASSE) – Football | ASSE News

Despite a double advantage acquired in the second period, AS Saint-Etienne ended up conceding the draw Nantes (2-2) during the 4th day of Ligue 1. A result which is enough for the Greens to take back the lead in the championship.

Marcus Coco made little difference on his side.

AS Saint-Etienne did not go far from the excellent operation of the 4th day of Ligue 1. Because with success, the Stphanois club would have escaped alone in the lead.

But because of a second period much less controlled, the Stphanois had to be satisfied with a draw in Nantes. Whereas they had perfectly started the meeting.

The perfect start to ASSE

From the first seconds of play, we could feel the Greens eager to put the pressure on. Many criticize these kicks in rugby mode to settle in the opposing half of the field. But this tactic was successful for the teammates of Aouchiche (0-1, 2nd), scorer on an offering from Neyou.

Enough to knock out the Canaries for a few minutes. Time for Nordin to get a double chance and force Pallois to save on his line! At 0-2 after 7 minutes of play, the scenario would have been catastrophic for Nantes, getting better and better in their match over the course of this first act. Like the non-frame steal from Pallois or the beautiful solo action of striker Kolo Muani, who crossed his shot too much.

Nantes could have won!

FCN were starting to push seriously and would undoubtedly have deserved to get a penalty after a foul by Kolodziejczak on Blas! No luck for the Nantes, that the VAR deprived of a goal of the striker Kolo Muani before the break for an offside of a few centimeters … ASSE was doing well, including back from the locker room when Simon saw his strike shave the post. On the other hand, Maon’s missile (0-2, 66th) made Lafont’s nets tremble!

We thought ASSE was well on its way to winning. But it was without counting on the Nantes reaction. It was first Simon (1-2, 71st) who reduced the score for the locals. Before the deserved equalization of Emond (2-2, 85th) who touched his very first ball! And without a tackle from Moukoudi, Simon could have offered an incredible Nantes comeback. The two teams had to be content with a draw which still allows the Greens to take back the lead in the championship.

The score of the match: 7/10

Like the other meetings this Sunday afternoon, this poster was rich in chances and goals. And just for Maon’s, this part was worth the detour! Especially since the Nantes reaction gave us a very lively end to the game.

The goals:

– After a raise from goalkeeper Lafont intercepted, Bouanga found Neyou from the outside of the foot deep in the area. The Stphanois midfielder raises his head and ideally serves Aouchiche who is ahead of Appiah and pushes the ball into the net (0-1, 2nd).

– Served back by Aouchiche at the entrance to the surface on the left side, the Maon side sent a missile into the skylight opposite Lafont who could only graze the ball! (0-2, 66th)

– Thrown deep by Bamba on his right side, the lateral Appiah centers low to the ground and finds Simon totally alone at the second post. The Nantes winger only has to score in the empty goal (1-2, 71st).

– After a powerful strike from Girotto on a long free-kick, the ball is controlled, bounces off the post of Moulin, and lands in Emond’s race. Barely came into play, the Nantes striker takes a left and places the leather between the legs of the goalkeeper (2-2, 85th).

Player NOTES

Maxifoot has awarded a score (out of 10) comments on each player.

Man of the match: Moses Simon (7.5 / 10)

We have finally found this untenable winger who made Nantes happy last season! Publicly criticized by his coach Christian Gourcuff, the Nigrian responded to the president. Not necessarily during this first period when he was still shy, apart from his decisive past which was finally refused by the VAR. But after the break he returned to his best level and created many differences on the left side. He is rewarded with a goal and does not go far from scoring the victory.

NANTES :

Alban Lafont (4): with a restart a little too long the origin of the goal of Aouchiche, the Nantes goalkeeper did not start the match in the best conditions. Hence its very average release which almost took advantage of Nordin.

Fbio (3): next week, Rafael’s brother may have the right to a center workshop … His teammates found him after having created the offset several times. And each time, the actions gave nothing.

Nicolas Pallois (5.5): caught behind his back on the goal of Aouchiche, the central defender quickly raised his head. He is the author of a rescue on his line and made speak his power in his duels, in particular against Hamouma whom he welcomed on the ground with a huge kick of the shoulder.

Andrei Girotto (4): come on, let’s say that his controlled free kick makes him a decisive player on Emond’s equalizer. But this is not enough to forget his passivity on the goal of Aouchiche and his many lost duels, such as the small bridge slipped by Nordin.

Dennis Appiah (5): the right side was the source of two goals. The first, Stphanois, when he arrives late for Aouchiche. And the second with a nice decisive pass for Simon.

Chirivella (4.5): despite his willingness to accelerate the game and find good passes forward, the rookie comes from Liverpool has never found this transmission that hurts the opposing team.

Mehdi Abeid (5.5): unhappy in the first period, the midfielder finds himself offside for a few inches and canceled the goal of Kolo Muani. More prominent after the break, he put the necessary intensity to put pressure on the Greens. Replace the 85th with Abdoulaye Tour (not rated).

Moses Simon (7.5): see comments above.

Ludovic Blas (6.5): very comfortable technically, the attacking midfielder was inspired in his dribbling. One of them surprised Kolodziejczak and should have given him a penalty. Too bad, he negotiates badly against in numerical superiority in the second period. Replace the 85th with Renaud Emond (not rated), scorer on his first ball a few seconds after entering the game!

Marcus Coco (3.5): difficult to say if it was his choice or if it was the coach’s instructions, but the Nantes winger tended to place himself inside the game, where the spaces are more rare. As a result, he often played with his back to goal and did not take enough advantage of his speed. Replace the 65th by Kader Bamba (not rated), involved in reducing Simon’s score.

Randal Kolo Muani (6): like his trainer, the Canaries striker will not be a big fan of the VAR. Video assist denied him yet another goal for a borderline offside. Apart from this false joy, he managed to weigh on the Stphanois defense, both in depth and back to goal.

ST ETIENNE :

Jessy Moulin (4,5): little used on his line, the Stphanois goalkeeper negotiated his outings well. He can not do anything on the first goal conceded. But we can blame him for having offered a solution to the second scorer Emond.

Yvann Maon (7): aggressive on the ball carrier, the left side did not let Coco breathe. He also created differences ahead, not to mention his exceptional goal!

Timothe Kolodziejczak (4): in the absence of injured Fofana, the boss’s costume was a little too big for him. The versatile defender has intercepted several crosses but has sometimes shown some reluctance. Especially when he came close to conceding a penalty on Blas. The VAR did not intervene, and we still wonder why …

Harold Moukoudi (3.5): it was his return to the competition and it was seen, especially the revival! He lost dangerous balloons. Fortunately Neyou came to make up for one of his mistakes. He saves the draw in quotes with his tackle which does not touch the ball, but which has the merit of annoying Simon at the very end of the match.

Aimen Moueffek (4): everything was going well for him in the first period. His offensive contribution was correct, and Simon was not a problem for him. Unfortunately for him, the Canaries winger found his legs after returning from the locker room and made him live 45 complicated minutes. The proof, he completely forgets his opponent on the reduction of the score.

Zaydou Youssouf (5): lacking in competition, the former Bordeaux player does not yet have the necessary physical condition. His technique allowed him to circulate and hold the ball well, but he never really created a lag. Replace the 59th with Lucas Gourna-Douath (not rated), responsible for helping Moueffek in his duel against Simon.

Yvan Neyou Noupa (7): it is still hard to believe that the environment was changing in Portuguese D2 last season. His technical mastery and his ball outings are still impressive. In addition to his big comeback after Moukoudi’s recovery error. Injured and replaced by Abdoulaye Sidib (not rated).

Mahdi Camara (6): combative, the young Stphanois never hesitated to go to the duel with a large volume of play. He went down very low to organize the play, without refraining from bringing the excess in certain phases of the game, the image of the center of Hamouma which he narrowly misses in the second period.

Adil Aouchiche (7): scorer from the start of the match, the former Parisian immediately gained confidence. He then took many initiatives and brought verticality both in his dribbling and in his passes. Less and less available in the second period and replaced the 76th by Kvin Monnet-Paquet (not rated).

Arnaud Nordin (5): after a big start to the match, the winger positioned in the axis has disappeared. Everything had started well with good acceleration and especially a double opportunity which forced Pallois to save on his line. Not sure that Claude Puel uses it again in the axis. Replace the 58th with Romain Hamouma (not rated), whose center almost found Camara alone in front of goal.

Denis Bouanga (6): involved on the first goal with a good outside foot, the Greens striker was less dangerous than usual. He made a few differences during the meeting but was also clumsy by missing his control on a great occasion. Replace the 77th with Maxence Rivera (not rated).
