AS Saint-Etienne : ASSE: the Greens still deprived of their 12th man | ASSE News

After 15 days of international truce, the championship resumes its rights this weekend. ASSE welcomes Strasbourg this Saturday evening (9 p.m.).

After a first victory against Lorient (2/0, on August 30), Saint-Étienne receives Strasbourg, this Saturday evening, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium.

No exemption for football

A Cauldron always far from its usual crowds, since the tonnage is still limited to 5,000 people in the enclosure (players, security, journalists included). ASSE has no exemption to bring in more for the moment. In other sports, such as rugby, ASM Clermont Auvergne was able to accommodate 10,000 spectators at the Michelin stadium last Sunday.

A difference in treatment that annoys, in particular the trainer Claude Puel. “There are two points on this file. The first is that it’s made à la carte (sic) and I don’t find that quite normal. Because a prefect can take his responsibilities while others will want to cover themselves. The decision rests with only one person“.

“20,000 spectators in the Cauldron, it’s playable”

Then, I wonder about the tonnage of 5,000 people. It does not have to be because each case is different. The gauge must be adapted to the capacity of the stadium. For our example, Geoffroy-Guichard has 42,000 seats, we could go up to 20,000 spectators and have sufficient social distancing. How do you enforce sanitary measures with a 5,000 gauge in a 7,000-seat stadium? For me it’s not consistent“, concludes the general manager of the Greens.

While waiting for a possible derogation, ASSE will try this Saturday evening to chain a second success against Strasbourg. Kick-off will be at 9 p.m.
