AS Saint-Etienne, a club where Rachid Mekhloufi had made two top-class passages, has not forgotten his former player on the occasion of his 84eanniversary. Born August 12, 1936 in Sétif, Rachid Mekloufi embodied the Saint-Etienne identity throughout his great and successful career. The Algerian expressed extraordinary talent, first between 1954 and 1958, then between 1963 and 1968, making him one of the greatest players to come through Saint-Étienne. Author of 152 goals with the Greens, not Algeria but ASSE, he is the permanent ambassador of the club. Quadruple French champion with ASSE (1957, 1964, 1967, 1968), Rachid Mekloufi also won the Coupe de France in 1968, scoring a brace in the final against the Girondins de Bordeaux (2-1).
