AS Saint-Etienne : 20,000 people at the Vélodrome for OM-ASSE? | ASSE News

Next week marks the return of Ligue 1. But how many supporters will be able to attend the first match of the season on Friday August 21 between OM and AS Saint-Etienne? The Marseille club requested an exemption from the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture.

OM want to get back to competition with their home crowd. After five months without official competition in France except for the Cup finals, the Marseillais will launch Ligue 1 against the Greens on Friday August 21 at 7 p.m. For this occasion but also for other posters at the Ligue 1 and Champions League Velodrome, Marseille leaders have requested an exemption from the prefecture to accommodate up to 20,000 people in this 67,000-seat enclosure. As a reminder, yesterday the Prime Minister announced the extension of the limit on gatherings to 5,000 people until October 30, while leaving the possibility for the prefects to adapt this constraint according to the health situation in their department.

The prefecture’s response is expected in the coming days in Marseille.
